About The Surf Academy: Our NSSIA Accredited programs introduce ocean safety and surfing etiquette, discuss ocean science topics such as waves and tides, marine biology, winds, coastal ecology and beach profiles, teaches stretching and exercises for young surfers and provides closely supervised instruction in the water. We provide 4 to 5 students to One certified surf instructor, while on the beach and in the ocean. Students are taught the surfing lineup to maintain control and safety at all times within small groups of not more than five, with certified lifeguards on the beach monitoring the safety of all the students. All students must be comfortable in the surf zone.
We teach on multiple skill levels: Our NSSIA Accredited programs allows us to teach on multiple skill levels. Whether your a beginner or advance surfer, we are here to either remove bad habits, or teach you the basics. We all attend the surf lesson on the beach as one small group. Yet while in the ocean each student will have their own experience and it will feel like a private surf lesson. Each student surfs at one time, in the lineup. Then paddles around to the back of the lineup again. The certified surf instructor will give you your own advice and learning experience. As this lineup movies, you won't be able to keep up with our fun consistent waves.
What is the "NSSIA" The National Surf Schools & Instructors Association:
1. NSSIA recognizes the potential harm surfers can do to one another as well as to the local environment. The NSSIA will actively promote the incorporation of surfboard safety and water safety as a first step into surf school training programs.
2. NSSIA recognizes that being able to surf is not a reliable qualification for teaching others to surf. The NSSIA will actively promote a surf instructor certification program to qualify beginning and master level instructors that teach surfing.
3. NSSIA recognizes that surf schools and related businesses who offer surfing lessons provide a variety of learning approaches, some more appropriate than others. The NSSIA will actively promote a surf school accreditation program so those who seek lessons can identify those organizations offering consistently high quality services.
4. NSSIA recognizes that inexperienced surfers should not over impact more experienced surfers in the lineup. The NSSIA will promote learning activities that instill surf etiquette and low impact surfing in accredited instructional programs.
5. NSSIA promotes the right of low-impact, free and open access to the world's waves and beaches for all people. NSSIA will support SURFRIDER and similar organizations that act to preserve this right of access.
6. NSSIA does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, or national origin for any reason.
7. NSSIA and its representatives agree to abide by these principles and all rules and regulations governing non-profit organizations.
